February 2018

My dear American Friends:

I hate to start my letter with "hospital," but I have no choice; because that's where I found myself. I was driving an end of a long tunnel not far from our Christian University for a meeting, and I guess I dozed into a little bit of the other side. I found myself in a bed of a hospital next morning. They said that I had brain hemorrhage and has to be very careful.

Thanks to the Lord that He thought that I had more work to do in this world and sent me back. I am healthy again and busy answering phone calls and questions of the children. Our children seem to have more questions when their parents are not where they need to be. The Word that God gave me when I was in the hospital was at the end of the Old Testament; Habakkuk 2:4 "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY HIS FAITH" I thought that these Words are not only for me, but also for KOREA and the whole world at the time like this!

Last year, you probably read a lot about weapons of death in North Korea, nuclear and so forth. Now, in 2018, we hear a lot more about "talk" "peace" "freedom" even "Love." (Actually, when all these are mixed, it usually turn out to be "Love.") John 12: 24 says, "Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone, but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit!" This is about the time that all of us, Christians, need to fall into the ground and die, so that we can bring forth some fruits! May be, that's why God gave us, Korean Christians, some of the recent difficulties. We have faith and strength, but that faith and strength need to be connected by the prayer to the Source of the Power, Jesus Christ!

There is a story that we often tell of a countryman who went to a shop and bought a water pump, which the salesman promised will drew lots ofwater. Next day, the country man bought that pump back and complained "this pump draws no water, no nothing." The salesman answered, "Of couse, it draws no water. The pump need to be connected to a fountain by pipes!" The pipe is the Prayer of course and we need to be connected to God by prayers! And this is about the time to check to see if our pipes are connected. "ARE WE CONNECTED?" is the title of my sermon coming Sunday.

The Winter Olympic in Korea is about to start. Many Korean athletes are training hard to prepare. We are preparing by printing Gospel cards with Cross on them. I may not be an Olympian, but I am excited to share my story! And we wish you "Hapy Lunar New Year in this year of the "dog"...and we hope to be faithful dogs to the Lord!
