October 2016

My dear American Friends:

Someone asked me "What's the closest way to Heaven?" And my answer was "BECOME LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN and die as a Christian." I am not sure if he liked my answer, but I thought that I answered almost what the Bible said in Mt. 18. But I felt that our workers liked my answer when I mentioned it to our workers' weekly worship service, especially when I ended with the last verse of James 1 "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this; to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." We thank God for using you and I for this purpose. Thank God for friends like you. How I appreciate your encouraging letters and cards!

Our children are (mostly) good students of the Bible. Every Wednesday evening, I teach Bible and Biblical Doctrine with all kinds of drawings. One evening last month, as I was walking and talking with the children during the summer camp, one child asked me "What is God doing now?" "What do you mean?" I asked and she continued "Is He still resting?" And then I remembered that we studied Genesis 2:1-2, the previous Wednesday, and that "God RESTED." She continued "He must have been really tired. When does He sleep?" I said, "You do not need to worry about it. Jesus said one time (Jn 5: 17) "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too, am working." "That's good" She said aloud "Whole world is praying. If God is asleep, I was worried that he might have MISSED MY PRAYER LAST NIGHT." And she kept on saying "That's good... that's good." She must have some sort of secret with God.

Talking about secrets with God, the titles of the magazines we publish regularly, they say, are interesting; The one I write for the older generations is entitled "THE OLD MEN'S DREAMS" and one from the Children's Home and to the younger generations is entitled "THE LILIES OF THE FIELD." These titles came from the Bible of course and some of our children may have felt like the lilies of the valley... being pushed out by the circumstances... ended up on the lonely valley alone... but determined to bloom a flower, through rain, wind and storm. "Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? (Romans 8: 35) Yes, our children want you to know that they are determined to bloom beautiful flowers even in the deserted valley. In fact, that was the title of my message to the children the other day. "Let's bloom beautiful flowers even in the deserted valley." I almost chose Psalm 27:10 for the scripture "Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me," but changed to Mt. 6:28.

We just celebrated CHOO SUK MOON Celebration. It's a sort of thanksgiving celebration for autumn harvest and they usually travel to thank the parents and ancestral tombs. Most of our children have neither ancestral tombs nor parents, so they all come to me. And I usually take them to their Father of fathers, the Heavenly Father, that is. So we all thanked God and shared our meals together. And we all sang to thank you. It also supposed to have the biggest full moon of the year and we thank God that it was a moon and not an ICBM.

I am planning to visit some of our missionaries in China this month, who have been fighting rather lonely battles under the atheistic governments. It may not be an easy trip, but I am used to it. Also a sports event, SOCCER tournament, is planned by the Mission and many local teams will participate. Soccer is favorite sports in Asia and has many points to talk about. Its goals are small, like "narrow gate" in the Bible. And it has many rules which even the maker of the soccer are not allowed to violate, such as "not handling the ball." I am praying that I would be able to convey the message that God, the giver of the Commandments, could not violate His Law and that His Only Son had to die on the Cross for our sin.

Please pray for the healing of;

1. One of our babies, HAR NEUL whom we need to take to a hospital every week.

2. My older brother, YOON MO who worked with me most of his life is now seriously ill.

Yours because of Calvary,

YOON KWON CHAE
