ORPHANAGE MINISTRY

Lunar New Year Celebration!

Chapel Time!

Prayer Time!

Geon Christian Children’s Home was founded in 1965 for the purpose of raising orphaned and abandoned children in a loving Christian home. We are now approaching nearly 60 years of running this orphanage and nearly 600+ children have grown up with us over the years.

There are two aspect of our home that matter the most to us. First, we are a CHRISTIAN home. This means that we strive to be conduits of God’s love to them first and foremost. This means that our children are encouraged to worship, to study the Bible, and to lead a life that glorifies God. Of course, not all our children find faith. Many of them come with so much trauma and baggage that they are unable to accept that God loves them. This breaks our heart but we are OK with it. Faith is something that cannot be forced. We believe our role is to just plant the seed and set the example, and we know God will take care of the rest in His timing. It gives us the greatest joy when our children grow up to become Christian social workers, pastors, missionaries, or just humbly lead a life of faith.

Secondly, we are a Christian HOME, which means we try to establish a family atmosphere. We believe in the power of authentic relationships. We strive to love all our children as our own, and the children are encouraged to think of us as parents, aunts, and uncles. Of course, it is not hard for us to do this. We find all children easily lovable! Of course, some of our kids sometimes cause many problems or have underlying mental illnesses. Over the years, we have had to send some kids to other facilities more fit to address their issues or even to juvenile detention centers. Sometimes, our kids have opted to leave our home and live with other known family members who were willing to take them in. In these ways, we may lose touch with them, but we never stop praying for them!

We humbly ask that you continue to pray for them too. We want you to know that we are grateful for your support. We can offer you nothing in return but our pledge to do our very best to emphasize both the CHRISTIAN and HOME aspects of this ministry, and to minimize the disadvantages they may have growing up compared to other Korean kids who have families.

God bless you!
